YEAR 6 CAMP
On Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday this week our Year 6 students enjoyed the adventure of camp at El Rancho. Ngā mihi nui to parents for your support and encouragement of ‘our’ tamariki.
BOARD OF TRUSTEES
The Board of Trustees have prepared an online survey seeking your feedback and impressions on many aspects of the school. This survey is completed every two years. I thank you in advance for helping us by taking the time to complete this. The survey is on Survey Monkey, the link has been emailed to whānau. If you don’t have internet access, or would prefer to complete the survey on paper, please just ask for one at the school office.
STUDENT-PARENT-TEACHER INTERVIEWS – WEDNESDAY 21 AND THURSDAY 22 MAY
Student-Parent-Teacher interviews will be held on Wednesday 21 May (3.30pm – 5.30pm) and Thursday 22 May (1.30pm – 8.00pm). School will be closing at 12.30pm on the Thursday. There will be no bus at this time. These interviews are a very significant and important sharing of information between your child’s teacher, your child and yourself. Our goal is for all children to have at least one parent or caregiver to attend an interview with their child’s teacher.

THURSDAY AFTERNOON JUNIOR TOUCH RUGBY
The Junior Touch Module on Thursday afternoon at Ōtaki Domain continues today, Thursday 3 April. Please look out for Sheralee Mildenhall who will direct you to the correct field. Please note Waitohu Matai (Year 1 & 2) and Waitohu Kauri (Year 5 & 6) both have a bye this Thursday.
DOGS - DROP OFF & PICK UP
When dropping off your tamariki or collecting them from school please do not bring your beautiful pet dogs. A number of parents and staff have expressed concern to me about this and the anxiety it raises in some students and adults. Ngā mihi.
LOST PROPERTY - CLOTHING
Next week all lost property will be displayed in the hall for students to collect. I encourage you to pop in and check the lost property boxes in the hall lost property cupboard. All unclaimed items that remain at the end of the term will be given to charity. Ngā mihi.

NEW PROGRAMME AT ŌTAKI POOL - KAUORA He kaupapa hou e haere ake nei!
He kaupapa wai a Kauora, he kaupapa haumaru mō te whānau. Ka whakaako ēnei kaupapa ki roto i ngā kura Māori, Kōhanga reo, me te hāpori Ōtaki ki te puna kaukau o Ōtaki me Ōtaki awa. Mā ngā kaimahi tēnei kaupapa e ārahi kei raro i te āhuru mōwai o ngā tikanga me ngā kauhautū o Kauora.
The Ōtaki Pool team is excited to introduce a new programme- Kauora.
Kauora is a connection to our tupuna through swimming and engaging in the taiao. It is based on the three key pou of kaukau (swimming as play), kauhoe (swimming as providing) and kautiaki (swimming as protection) and contributes to flourishing whānau hauora. Kauora is delivered in te reo Māori, guided by our mātāpono and iwi.
Classes for school aged kids will be run after school on weekdays. Expressions of interest for this exciting new kaupapa are currently being sought.
